My blogging schedule

I keep a day planner and a calendar to schedule tasks at home and at work. When I started blogging early this year, keeping a blogging schedule just came to me naturally.

Darren Rowse of the Problogger says, keeping a blogging schedule instead of sporadic posting makes post frequency and quality more consistent, increases productivity and made him able to build more momentum in his blog.

The beauty of most blogging platforms, including wordpress is the ability to post date a blog entry. If I know that I will not have time during the week for regular posting, I set aside a couple of hours on Saturdays and Sundays when I have the most free time at work, to write enough entries and set them to publish at later dates.

That being said, I have written Thursday Thirteen, a random meme, a photo entry for the Saturday Photo Hunt to last me until the end of the year. I have several other posts for topics randomly coming out of my head in my drafts.

I want to post on a regular basis. I have worked well with discipline in the past and scheduling was/is always a part of my everyday life so keeping a blogging schedule is a fairly easy task for me.

Do you keep a blogging schedule?

I wish I could keep a blogging schedule, but I am way too unorganized to actually stick to one. I do use a little notebook to write down ideas for posts, but when I actually sit down in front of my laptop during the week, I often don’t feel like blogging at all. And at the weekends, when I am working on my “real” computer at home, I am so busy catching up with other stuff that I don’t have much time for blogging. It’s a bit of a vicious circle at the moment.

I have to keep a blogging schedule or I’ll forget to do things. I love that WP lets you post date your posts!

My goal is to post one book review a day. I save my blogging for after work (so 4 PM in my case) and I stop before midnight. I don’t want to be tired for work. I usually end up posting between 8 and 10 PM.

I obviously don’t keep a blogging schedule, as today I finally came up for air after a week. Thanksgiving, out of town visiting, and work have kept me so very busy! But I love the idea – thanks! I’m going to try to work on this…

I’ve been trying to come up with a blogging schedule…. but I’ve been putting it off. I really suck at following my schedule anyway, so I guess I should work on discipline, first? :D

I’m pretty bad at my blogging discipline. I start drafts which I may or may not finish later, but I publish them with the date that they were drafted or earlier – is that bad?
