so where are they?

Things are a little bit lonely in my blog lately. I understand that Sundays are mostly off for most people giving time to family and relaxation than working and spending time in front of the computer the whole day like me.

Monday comes to this side of the world and it is still Sunday where most of my readers are (at least according to Site Meter, most of my readers are from the US) so no traffic for me. Tuesday…then today is Wednesday… Halloween so they would be trick or treating.

Then I found out in someone’s blog that there’s a great carnival going on right now which everyone but me is participating! So that’s where everyone is!

How left out did that make me feel!

I am talking of course about the Fall Y’All Bloggy Giveaway hosted by Shannon in Rocks in My Dryer. I do mention her and her blog like I know her – - when in fact, I don’t. I haven’t read any post on her blog because typepad blogs are banned in the UAE!! Banned as in inaccessible. Can you believe that?

There are lots of bloggers participating and the main list is in Shannon’s blog. So since I can’t see the main list, I googled Fall Y’All and picked up tracks to blogs who are giving away stuffs from books to gadgets to cute aprons to gift certificates, the list just goes on and on. Gotta try my luck again! I had to look real close though, as some of them don’t ship outside the United States.

So, if typepad is working fine in your side, go check out the Fall Y’All Bloggy Giveaway page while there’s still time to do so!

Happy Halloween!

You can’t see typepad blogs? I wonder why on earth those but not others.

PS For your other readers who might not know, I’ve got a breastfeeding themed giveaway going as part of the Fall Y’All giveaway that is open to everyone, regardless of where they live. As long as you can provide an address in a country I can ship to you from where I am, you can win.

Hi Christine,

Typepad, Friendster blogs and bravejournal blogs along with Flickr and who knows what else are banned in the UAE because of adult content. Duh.

Why the government categorized it as adult, I really don’t know. Internet censorship is a little bit tough here and there had been some blogs that had been pulled down for writing nasty things about the government.

With that said, I hope my blog sticks around!

Hi Grace,
Sorry I haven’t been around much. I have been reading, but we’re two weeks away from leaving on our trip and I am sooooo busy.
Happy Halloween!!!

No Typepad, but deporting honest workers? Way to go, Duabai! haha.

Is Pristine dressing up – is Halloween celebrated there? We sort of half celebrate. The kids dress up, but we don’t trick or treat around neighborhoods – mostly because you wouldn’t believe what evil things some people dress up like – it scares me to death much less the kids! So we go to a Harvest Party at a church, and the kids play fun games, like apple bobbing and muscial chairs and cake walks.

I suppose every country has its quirks about what it deems “adult” in content, but I wonder why the UAE thinks Typepad blogs are more adult in nature than say Wordpress or Blogger ones? Very odd. MySpace, I could understand!
