Sunday Good Reads: Problogger

I am starting new here at Sandier Pastures. Every Sunday, I’ll spotlight a good blog that I read regularly. You must be familiar with some of these blogs and if you’re not, you’ll see why I read them and why you should too.

With my love for blogging, it is just apt that Darren Rowse’s Probloggerblog will be the first blog to be featured for my Sunday Good Reads. Basically, ProBlogger.net is a blog about blogging that covers everything from how to find readers, write engaging content or simply learn how to make money from blogging.

Darren has become a six-figure bloggerway back in 2005. Who would have thought that it would be possible to earn that much through blogging? And you would think his site is cluttered with ads upon ads that generate revenue for him to earn that much? No, problogger is more than ads. It has hundreds of great, informative articles that you would not tire of reading (at least I am not tired of reading them!).

Problogger.net is an essential read for anyone wanting to start a blog, from that person asking what is a blog, to bloggers wondering how to earn through blogging and simply for those who want to improve their blogs, writing techniques or know the trends.

One of my favorite post at Problogger (among hundreds of posts there) is a guest post from Leo Babauta, another great blogger who is behind the very popular blog Zen Habits. The post I am talking about is titled The Essential Guide to Growing Your Blog on Minimal Time. If you feel that blogging has taken over your life and you find yourself gasping for more real-world oxygen, you should read this article. Another one is a set of blog tips compiled by Darren over the past years.

While monetizing blog is the main topic of Problogger, great articles about blog improvement is what draws me to this site. Earning money from blogging is intriguing and sounds easy but I realized after reading Problogger for about two years now, that being a problogger requires a lot of hardwork, dedication and time – more than what we would ever invest in our regular day jobs.

I could go on and on describing Problogger.net for days on end but I’ll stop here. If you are a blogger and you haven’t checked out Darren’s Problogger blog (I can’t really imagine any blogger who hasn’t read Problogger yet), I encourage you to do so. You’ll enjoy the blog posts there and although getting some bucks off blogging is the first thing in your mind right now, Problogger.net gets you on track with things that comes first when it comes to blogging or writing for that matter.

Darren teamed up with another great blogger Chris Garrett to come up with a Problogger book, ProBlogger: Secrets for Blogging Your Way to a Six-Figure Income. The book has been receiving really great raves across the blogosphere, so many people referring to it as the blog bible. I have yet to get hold of it but I know it’s just a matter of time.
