I found this fun meme at Betty Wien’s World.

Rules are simple. Go to your photos, and post the sixth photo in your sixth folder. Or, you know, the sixth photo in your photos if you don’t have them in folders.

No cheating.

Here is what turned up:

This is one of the photos we took last year during our first trip to the beach. We thought the water is still cold on March but we were surprised to see so many swimmers there. It was perfect beach weather. Only, we didn’t bring our swimming costumes that day.

Nevertheless, the little girl still embraced the beach with wild abandon, wetting all of her clothes on, and ours too. We had to spend time under the sun to dry ourselves off since no taxi driver would allow us in wet clothes!

If you would like to play this, consider yourself tagged and start searching for that 6th photo!

I found this meme at Expat Mom’s blog.

15 years ago… I was 17 and in my first year of college in the Philippines. I took a course I didn’t like because my father didn’t allow me to travel far to attend a school of my choice. I bade goodbye to my friends who left town to pursue college somewhere else. I wished I had the freedom to do that!

10 years ago… I was 22 and in Japan, enjoying scholarship in one of the universities there, having an allowance, my own room and lots of freedom to do almost anything. Looking back, it was one of the best times of my life.

5 years ago…I was married and pregnant, expecting our first child in December. Mine was a very smooth sailing pregnancy. The delivery was another story, though. More than 30 hours of painful labor is something I wish wouldn’t happen again. We were living in Nagano, a quiet, suburb in Japan. A very beautiful place surrounded by snow capped mountains.

3 years ago… We bought a own house in Japan (only to leave in less than 2 years). It was this year also that my aunt who lived with us to help me with the baby returned to the Philippines and I was left to tuck the baby in my waist while cooking dinners.

1 year ago…We left Japan for Dubai (for my work). Hubby was staying at home, waking up at 5 am to prepare breakfast and my pack lunch, babysitting, cleaning and just being Mrs. Doubtfire without the fake boobs. He started working in May last year after my mom came to rescue him from domestic turmoil.

Yesterday, I came back to work after 4 days of Eid holidays.

Today, I came late for work because of the heavy, crazy traffic. But that’s not news, the traffic, that is. My being late is news – it’s the first time I’ve been late in 22 months.

Tomorrow, I hope I can finally upload photos from our vacation.

I love the links she gathers every Sunday. There’s always something new to learn or get busy with.

So, if you are interested to know how old your brain is, or just have nothing to do, take the Brain Age Test here. To take the test, just click on the numbers in ascending order. My score was 23.

* This is one of the sample tests to determine the brain age. Not entirely accurate but it’s fun!

A husband and wife are travelling in their car from Lands End to John O’Groats. After hours on the road they’re tired and decide to stop for a rest. They stop at a nice hotel and book a room, but they only plan to sleep for four hours and then get back on the road. When they check out four hours later, the desk clerk hands them a bill for £350.

The man demands to know why the bill is so steep. He tells the clerk that although it’s a nice hotel, the rooms certainly aren’t worth £350. When the clerk tells him £350 is the standard rate, the man insists on speaking to the manager.

The manager appears, listens to the man, and then explains that the hotel has an Olympic sized pool and a conference centre that were available for them to use.

“But we didn’t use them,” the man explains. “Well, they are here, and you could have,” explains the manager.

He goes on to explain they could have visited the Michelin-starred restaurant for which the hotel is famous.

“But we didn’t go to the restaurant,” complains the man again. “Well, you could have,” the manager replies.

No matter what facility the manager mentions, the man replies, “But we didn’t use it!”

The manager is unmoved, and eventually the man gives up and agrees to pay. He writes a check and gives it to the manager. The manager is surprised when he looks at the cheque.

“But sir,” he says, “this cheque is only made out for £100.”

“That’s right,” says the man. “I charged you £250 for sleeping with my wife.”

“But I didn’t!” exclaims the manager.

“Well,” the man replies, “she was here, and you could have.”

A Polish man moved to the US and married an American girl. Although his English was far from perfect they got along very well until one day he rushed into a lawyer’s office and asked if a divorce could be arranged.

The lawyer said that getting a divorce would depend on the circumstances, and asked him the following questions:

Have you any grounds? – Yes, an acre and half and nice little home.

No, I mean what is the foundation of this case? – It made of concrete.

I don’t think you understand. Does either of you have a real grudge? – No, we have carport, and not need one.

I mean. What are your relations like? – All my relations still in Poland.

Is there any infidelity in your marriage? – We have hi-fidelity stereo and good DVD player.

Does your wife beat you up? – No, I always up before her.

Is your wife a nagger? – No, she white.

Why do you want this divorce? – She going to kill me!

What makes you think that? – I got proof.

What kind of proof? – She going to poison me. She buy a bottle at drugstore and put on shelf in bathroom.

I can read, and it say: “Polish Remover”

According to a news report, a certain private school in Washington was recently faced with a unique problem. A number of 12 year-old girls were beginning to use lipstick and would put it on in the bathroom. That was fine, but after they put on their lipstick they would press their lips to the mirror leaving dozens of little lip prints. Every night the cleaner would remove them and the next day the girls would put them back.

Finally the headmistress decided that something had to be done. She called all the girls to the bathroom and met them there with the cleaner. She explained that all these lip prints were causing a major problem for the cleaner who had to clean the mirrors every night.

To demonstrate how difficult it had been to clean the mirrors, she asked the cleaner to show the girls how much effort was required. He took out a long-handled squeegee, dipped it in the toilet, and cleaned the mirror with it. Since then, there have been no lip prints on the mirror.

There are teachers… and then there are educators.

I’m still on vacation. Enjoy this week’s joke:

*****

An 18 year old girl tells her mum that she has missed her period for two months. Very worried, the mother goes to the Chemist and buys a pregnancy kit. The test result shows that the girl is pregnant.

Shouting, cursing and crying, the mother says, “Who was the pig that did this to you? I want to know!”

The girl picks up the phone and makes a call.

Half hour later and a Ferrari stops in front of their house. A mature and distinguished man with grey hair impeccably dressed in an Armani suit steps out of the Ferrari and enters the house.

He sits in the living room with the father, mother and the girl and tells them “Good morning, your daughter has informed me of the problem. I can’t marry her because of my personal family situation but I’ll take charge. I will pay all costs and provide for your daughter for the rest of her life.

Additionally, if a girl is born I will bequeath her 2 retail stores, a townhouse, a beachfront villa and a £2million bank account.

If a boy is born my legacy will be a couple of factories and a £4,000,000 bank account.

If twins they will receive a factory and £2,000,000 each.

However, if there is a miscarriage, what do you suggest I do?”

At this point, the girls father, who had remained silent, places a hand firmly on the man’s shoulder and tells him, “You shag her again.”

I saw this personality quiz over at Mom’s Musings and it’s available at BBC – Science and Nature Human Body and Mind site.

Your answers suggest you are a Nurturer

The four aspects that make up this personality type are:

Summary of Nurturers

Care for the important people in their lives

Strive for harmony and avoid confrontation

Think of themselves as gentle, conscientious, and mature

May have trouble making decisions that could hurt others

More about Nurturers

Nurturers are quiet people who believe in order and diligently look after the people they care about. They focus on the needs of others and establish routines to help them meet their commitments.

Nurturers are the most likely group to say they prefer a job where the same thing happens every day, according to a UK survey.

Nurturers remember details that are important to them, such as their friends’ birthdays and anniversaries. People with this personality type value others’ feelings and may challenge behaviour they think is insensitive.

In situations where they can’t use their talents or are unappreciated, Nurturers may feel bitter and seek support by complaining to their colleagues. Under extreme stress, Nurturers may become preoccupied with the worst possible outcome and believe that they are heading for disaster.

Because they are so caring and loyal, Nurturers run the risk of being taken advantage of.

Nurturer Careers

Nurturers are often drawn to jobs that allow them to help others.

*****

The result amazingly coincides with the result of name numerology last week!

How to Find Your Destiny Number:

Write down your full name (first, middle, and last). Use the name you were given at birth—not your married name.

Using the table above, write down the number matched to each letter in each name (example: GRACE = 7, 9, 1, 3, 5).

Add the numbers together for each name (for Grace: 7 + 9 + 1 + 3 + 5= 25).

You will most likely get a double digit for each name; break down each double digit number you get by adding the first and second digit to get one number (i.e. from the 25 above, add together 2+5 to get 7, which is the number for my first name).

Add up the final numbers you get from each name (i.e. my middle name number is 14 and my last name number is 30, so 7+5+3 = 15).

Once again, break down any double-digit numbers into one digit to get your final Destiny Number (i.e. from the 15 above, add together 1+5 to get 6, which is my final Destiny Number)

Destiny Number 6 The key to a Destiny number of 6 is to live your life as a humanitarian. Helping those who are weak, down on their luck or unhappy will help you to find happiness in your own life. You also should strive to beautify the world around you with artistic endeavors. While you should not completely sacrifice yourself to the service of others, helping those in need will open the door to beauty, love and harmony in your own life. This more or less sums up to what I am. I love helping others and I am happy to be able to extend help and assistance to anyone in need – if what is required is within my reach, of course. But no, please don’t email me saying you need a new car… So what’s your number? Does the meaning hold true for your personality?
