]]> By: Desert Penguin http://sandierpastures.com/dubai/all-that-desert-jazz/10-months-after.html#comment-98449 Desert Penguin Thu, 12 Mar 2009 03:52:21 +0000 http://www.sandierpastures.com/desert-life/10-months-after.html#comment-98449 You know you're a driver in Dubai * you see a car reversing on Sheikh Zayed Road during rush hour cos the driver missed the turning * to get to the Starbucks on the other side of the road (OK it's a 12 lane road) you have to go 2km UUUUUPPPPPPP then take a massive u-turn and then go back AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLL the way down. you'll need more than just a coffee after that * you can sit in your car and honk your horn outside a restaurant and they will come and take your order * over night they replace the roundabout with a set of signals, change the direction of the road and narrow it to one lane... for a day and then change it again * indicators are strictly optional as are head lights in the evening *when it's foggy, people drive faster and turn on their hazards *a hole appears in the road big enough to swallow a car and then overnight they fill it with rocks...and a little spread of tar Driving in Dubai is so unique!
