we do HAVE winter

Oh, I am still in Dubai.

I went out to walk after lunch this afternoon to keep with my promise to walk and move more. The office is still freezing and I though I could use a little sun but what met me outside was a strong wind and a very cold one too! The weather is as fine as ever but it’s really cold outside, maybe below 15 Celsius (lower 50′s F). If that is not cold for you, well, I was under-dressed, no jacket and with no socks.

This morning the radio announcer said there’s a good chance we’ll see rain but the skies cleared up by noon. My mother would have been excited to see some rain after 8 months of stay here. It rained last November but it was more like a spray than a real rain.

We want fat drops of rain with some gushing sound. Is it too much to ask?

We had a burst of rain yesterday with cooler temperatures (mid 50s Fahrenheit). It was a not unusual winter day for us. I wouldn’t mind if it had rained harder all day, but the rain only lasted the morning, sadly. Up in the mountains, however, they got lots and lots of snow.

You crack me up, girl! “It rained last November…” sounds like some old and far away fairytale.
This is so different from where I live, it seems unreal. Here it rained yesterday. And the day before that, and last week, and the day before New Year’s, and… well, you get the picture. As far as I am concerned some of that rain would be welcome to go down over Dubai.
And you’re right: for me 15°C is not cold. In fact for the last couple of days (when it was not raining) we had around 10 – 12°C here and it feels like spring arrived early this year. Normally we should have freezing temperatures around this time of year. Not that I’m complaining. I’m not exactly keen on scratching the ice off my car’s windows every morning.

Nope, it’s not asking too much. I live on one of the driest part of the island and I’m always praying for a little rain!

Great blog here! Stumbled onto your site when googling X25 bus route. I have just recently moved to Dubai and have also started blogging about my experiences here. Hope it is okay that I add a link on my site for yours?

Congratulations on your blogging anniversary! Thanks for educating me about the climate in Dubai. I guess life in Connecticut has me convinced everywhere else must be warmer!

Wow! It does get Cold there. I think you are even colder than we are. We just got a nice rainstorm this weekend. I’ll be sending it your way, but I know what you mean, something about living in the desert I wish it would rain more.
