The ceiling light is supposed to be screwed well, and it did live up to that — it screwed really well!
LOUD crash sound this morning at 5:30 woke us up. Coming out of the living room hallway still half-asleep, we heard ‘crunchy’ sounds as we stepped. Looking down at our feet, shattered glasses strewn in the floor everywhere! Looking up, the ceiling light with a thick glass cover on it was no longer there — by some poltergeistic-like power, it was practically ripped off from the ceiling and fell to the floor.
Just a reference of how the ceiling light look like, the dome-like part is made of thick, heavy glass:

Pissed, angry, frustrated are low-impact words to describe how I feel, at 5:30 in the morning, before I could even see the sun rising from the horizon. What a wonderful way to begin the day.
But still, one important thing to be thankful for despite this mess, that it happened while we were sleeping. The ceiling light fixture is just above our dining table, specifically, right above where Miss Pristine is sitting. Jeeez, I need to brush off these what-ifs in my mind because it’s driving me crazy mad.
So, what happened to Pristine’s chair? The wood has an imminent scrape, a reminder of the shattered glass sliding through it on the way to the ground.
Frantic hubby rushed to get broom and vacuum cleaner. I had other thoughts in mind, I took the camera, took lots of pictures as evidence of the catastrophe. The flat building has so many problems — a minor leak in the kitchen pipe, miniature elevators (some tenants bought normal sized sofas and had to return them because there is no way it would fit in the elevator and transported upstairs), shockingly bad finishings, oh, I could go on and on — and may I mention that the building is new…what will it look like a couple of years from now?
My company is paying for my accomodation but it certainly does NOT mean I won’t fight till we move to a new place and sleep safely knowing every screw is screwed and will not screw up!

sort of slowly-but-not-surely made flats!
I’d take the pics and email them asap to the President of your company.
Musta?
thank God that happened while you were all sleeping…
One blessing still- it happened while everyone was asleep. Grace, try to check other fixtures too, sockets (that might be ripped from the wall when you pull an electric wire from the socket), faucets. Just to be sure everything is ok.
