Thank God no one was hurt. Just as I was thinking of what to write today, opportunity presented itself in front of me. But this is the last thing I would want to happen. For the first time in my life, I witnessed a car crash within a stone’s throw from where I was standing.
A lady driver trying for a u-turn without pre-caution and a mindless driver on the oppossite side thought he was the king of the road are the main characters of the disaster today.
This has got to stop. Traffic accidents are on a daily basis here. Too many nationalities, each with a different definition of what safe driving is.
Too bad to note, traffic accidents are the leading cause of death in the UAE — this terrifies me to no end. I drove for more than 5 years while in Japan where car crashes are very rare, it lands in the evening news whenever it occurs. If we feature all the accidents that happen in UAE roads everyday, we will be having an all-nighter.
*This post will be updated tomorrow with pictures. I thought I’d play sleuth and bring my camera everyday. Sad that I forgot to bring my memory reader!

Was anybody hurt in the accident?
Sounds like a really scary situation to watch. I once saw an old woman pass out at the wheel and run into a stop sign.
Witnessing such an event makes you realize again how precious life is!
Unfortunately accidents are very high here too. All the time. Nothing funny about it. Not nice to witness but it’s good that no-one got hurt
It’s freaky to witness a car crash isn’t it? Even when we know they happen, it’s different to have one occur right in front of you.
I came back japan recently. traffic situation of china is the worse. They donot follow traffic rule at all.Neglect of traffic regulations means disdain for human life. Traffic situation is danger itself in china.
crazy world. all the more when you ride a bus in manila. it’s like handing your life to the driver who is a total stranger.
btw, thanks for dropping my blogsite. i will visit yours often.
Scary! When my husband lived in Scotland, some of his friends saw a car crash and photographed it. Some of the people in the crash didn’t take to kindly to that and followed his friends home to beat them up. (3/4 of the friends in that apartment were like champion wrestlers/martial artists. They cleaned the Scots’ clocks.)
