in Dubai, the possibilities are endless

First, they made man-made islands, marina, port and harbor, artificial snow (ski resort), and now, would you believe, they are bent on creating artificial rain?

Yesterday’s rain was induced, man-made, artificial, fake! I knew something wasn’t right! The articles can be found in Gulf News titled, Cloud seeding experiment has thundering success (with photos) and Cloud seeding tests continue.

Interesting. I was in Dubai for a week in April for the first time and enjoy reading your blog to get a glimpse at what living there is like.

Thanks for visiting my blog!

Crazy stuff going on! In Dubai, anything can happen. :???:

I’m betting, next time they’ll make artificial mountains and rain forests!

Dubai is going to be a one stop shop for everything. Is there a rain forest out there?

Oh no, there isn’t a rain forest here, not even a mountain! In the outskirts of the city, going to Oman, there are mountains with some trees but the UAE is basically desert land. The gov’t. just made a great effort to make it greener by planting lots of trees.

How odd. I wish we could induce rain here, but we have no clouds most of the time!

We’re pretty cloudless here too but sometimes, clouds from Saudi Arabia comes and that’s when they did the cloud seeding experiment.

Wow…I have heard about cloud seeding…but wasn’t sure where they actually tried it out. And you were there! So, what is normal rainfall for Dubai?

I have see all the things Dubai has created online or in magazines…are they expensive? Have you been? Or is it more for tourists?

Normal rainfall for Dubai is very minimal, only in the “winter” months of December-January. This year we had lots of rain in one day than what Dubai had for the last 5 years combined. The whole city was flooded due to lack of drainage system!

I sure thought you had real rain.

Me too! But I think from now on, we’re gonna have rain if the government is up for it!

I don’t know what there thinking. I won’t what it takes to produce rain. I wonder what kind of energy and if it’s even worth it.

Artificial rain? That’s crazy. I think it’s cool that they can make artificial snow for those places who want to have a “white” Christmas but don’t live somewhere where they can. I’d like to see this artificial rain.
