There’s a new breed of moms strutting around town. Just weeks after giving birth, women dubbed “mom-shells,” a hybrid of moms and bombshells, are flaunting their post-baby bodies with skinny jeans and six-inch heels — an image perpetuated by Hollywood.
I’m tired of looking at headlines that read how this so and so celebrity mom lost all the baby weight in 2 months, claiming so many things but the truth.
THE ‘BREASTFEEDING MADE ME SKINNY’ CLAIM
Celebrity mom Kristin Cavallari said she bounced back to her pre-baby weight because of breastfeeding. “I can honestly say I owe it all to breastfeeding,” she says. “I read somewhere that it’s like running six miles a day.”
If that were true, no breastfeeding mom would be lumpy.
Some claim that truthfully, breastfeeding helped them lose weight but Kristin – she obviously forgot to mention her personal trainer and personal chef along with super nannies to watch her baby while she tries to bounce back to her pre-baby body, just a few weeks after baby.
Owing it all to only breastfeeding? Don’t kid me! I’ve been breastfeeding for the past 12 months as well but I am no where near my pre-baby body (but that pre-baby body is overweight to begin with so yeah…). And to take the mysterious shroud off breastfeeding: it actually makes you really hungry and you would be crayzeeeh not to eat. In the middle of the night, especially on those first few days after the baby is born; double that hunger pang if you have a baby boy!
THE ULTIMATE MEASURE OF BEING A MOMSHELL IS A PAIR OF SKINNY JEANS
The Daily Mail pokes additional pressure on ordinary moms: Her son Camden John is less than a month old, but Vanessa Lachey is already back in her jeans.
First things first, Vanessa, who? Next, she might have skinny jeans but it might be of stretchy material + her blouse style was like a tent. Who knows what’s going on inside of that. Sure, I know after a few weeks of personal trainer and chef combo, the new mom will be photographed in the beach with washboard abs. Then we all can ask ourselves again, how did she ever do that?
When you see the likes of celebrity moms working it in the red carpet a few weeks after delivery looking hot, you can’t help but wonder the things they do/did to get that body.
Probably they’re just wearing Spanx?
As for me, almost a year after I gave birth, the bump is gone and I am just a fat lady. I am still stuck in Pudge Island because I am not focusing on my weight but the weight of the person that really matters – my little baby. I have tried to bounce back 6 months after the baby came but failed. I attempted to paddle out of Pudge Island again after a couple of months only to be slapped by the waves of mastitis. I am still doing whatever I can to lose the baby weight
but the baby loves the soft belly he can bounce on so maybe it’s time to buy myself some Spanx.
How about you – do you/did you feel the need to lose the baby weight right after giving birth?
