Ramadan started last week and while I am not a Muslim, I live in an Islamic country and work in an environment with more than half of the people are Muslims who are fasting. While I am not required to fast, my routine during Ramadan drastically changes due to the fact that I am allowed to eat or drink only if I have to do it discretely, nothing out of force, just out of respect for the fasting people.
Work time is from 9am to 3pm, no lunch break. I am too lazy to stand up, go to the kitchen (secluded part in the office) and eat lunch so I just graze through small cut up fruits, nuts and rye bread and drink lots and lots of green tea at the comfort of my seat. Honestly, Ramadan is a little break for me for preparing my lunch box in the morning. Then, I’ll either take a full lunch at home after my gym workout at 4pm or have a light snack then take an early, proper dinner.
In other words, Ramadan for me is a great chance to propel weight loss.

This week, I missed two days of workout because I had to take a break on certain times of the month. I don’t like missing my workouts but I treat it as a way for me to rest so I could go back to the gym stronger and more prepared.
One week more and then the #AugFitChal will wrap up. Four weeks flew by so fast. It’s -1 lb for me this week. Final weight and measurement to be posted next Saturday.

It’s another twelve weeks of great opportunity to get up, be active, change your lifestyle and lose fat! Read the TC#6 rules for details. If you’re still unsure if the program is for you, I invite you to download and test drive the Turbulence Training Sample Fat Burning Workout directly, here, for FREE! Right click on the above link and choose, ‘Save target as’.
I’m going to take part in the twelve-week journey once again because I found out that I work well with the ready made exercise program that Craig created. I always look forward to a new program every 4 weeks so my workout routine is never boring. My only stumbling block is that I’ll be going for vacation for some weeks in October and might not have access to the gym! *shudder*
Thankfully, there are programs in the Turbulence Training program that are designed for people who can’t go to the gym. I can do it at home or in hotel rooms using the weight of my own body, which is great. I started TT at home using my own bodyweight. Now you can too! The Turbulence Training 4-week Bodyweight Exercise program is available, FREE, for you, right here, right now. Right click on the above link and choose, ‘Save target as’.
Enjoy!

TT is a superb program – very comprehensive and easy to follow.
Regarding going on vacation, you can always do body weight exercises in the hotel. I do that myself; it’s effective.
It would be so hard for me not to snack during the day. But I’d do it out of respect too.
You are doing a wonderful job on your program, I am so proud of you… you look magnificent also!! I also think it is a marvelous thing that you do being so respectful to the Muslims by not eating because of their religious beliefs. I don’t think that would happen here in America, no matter how many Muslims there were in a workplace. That is very kind of you. You are a very special woman.
Thanks Lorie! It is amazing here in Dubai that although there are a lot of people with different beliefs, they respect each other a lot. During Christmas, my Muslim friends greet me, Merry Christmas! and not “Happy Holidays”
I hear that Happy Holidays would be the right way in America since it is “politically” correct than saying Merry Christmas…strange…
Great post!!! I have defiantly bookmarked your site.
Thanks for the sharing great advice! I just came across your blog and love the stuff which you provided on this blog. I look forward to reading your posts in the future.
The truth about weight loss is that, none of the quick fixes work for it. It starts with a firm determination that you want to lead a healthy and active lifestyle. Once you achieve that mindset, the rest of the journey becomes very easy. We first need to plan with a sound mind what our objectives in life are and why do we want to loose weight. Once we decide to do it, it helps a lot to read weight loss motivating articles.
Thanks for the great post . I look forward to reading more of your post in the future.
