**Congratulations to Erin!**
I love all things elegant and pretty. I mean, who doesn’t? While browsing through Etsy, this caught my eye:
How adorable are these recipe cards from Dingbat Press? And these folded notecards to lighten up your correspondence?
The letterpress process is relief printed. This occurs when a raised surface is inked and pressed into paper. A raised surface can be wood type, metal type, a dingbat (typographic ornament), a photo-engraved plate, a woodcut, or a hand-carved linoleum block. In short, this craft requires the knowledge, skill and intensive labor which Adrienne Berry, the talented lady behind Dingbat Press has and does with elegance to create modern day letterpress that is sure to impress!
My affinity with letterpress started long way back. One summer when I was 12, a friend of mine took me to her father’s printing press. It was my first time visiting a printing press and though I didn’t know what to expect, I imagined foul carbon smell and ink of printing newspapers and magazines. I was in for a surprise that day because my friend’s family’s business was making custom letterpress for special occassions. I’ve never seen so many elegant and beautiful prints in my life and instantly fell in love.
There’s something about letterpressed stationery that makes it look special. Dingbat Press‘ Etsy shop reminded me of my first encounter with letterpressed papers and my adoration for them. I did collect lots of letterpressed stationery from my friend’s dad but I NEVER wrote on those papers. I never used or sent the cards to anyone – at that time, it was so precious to me that I felt it was a waste writing on it’s precious pages.
In addition to wedding stationery, Adrienne of Dingbat Press have expanded her collection to include baby, personal, correspondence, holiday and also accepts custom orders. Visit her blog for her latest creations and updates!
