I know I’ve said it before, I am a jeans and t-shirt person and I can’t get tired of searching for and looking at shirts, especially lovely ones such as the ones I found at Ellembee‘s Etsy shop!

Lisa, the talented and sexy (you’ll know why later) woman behind Ellembee lives in Michigan with her mom. She was recently laid off from her job as a bedding designer in California and finally took the plunge and started her own clothing company.

Being laid off was a blessing in disguise. She had taken a class on screenprinting in college, so she knew the basics, and thought maybe she could make and sell designer t-shirts on etsy and at craft shows.

So where does she get her inspiration?

Quoting Lisa:

I get the inspiration for my designs in many places. My mom has been really into plants my whole life. A lot of my shirts have plants and flowers on them, and a lot of the designs I draw from her plants! I also love old world, antique looking damask prints. I think this comes from being a bedding designer. The company I used to work for was very high-end, very refined. I developed a liking for antique looks, and I love making them a bit more modern and wearable!

She listed her first shirt in April 2008 and one year later, she has sold 1,300 shirts in Etsy! See the few ones I picked out below or visit her site and you’ll know why her shirts are selling like hot cakes!

MY PERSONAL FAVORITES:
