Just before I go back to work next week, we decided to have a little R & R at a city hotel, a tradition we started last year and hope to continue each year to celebrate our wedding anniversary. This is the view from outside our room:

This would be Sheikh Zayed Road with the elevated Dubai Metro rail and the Emirates Towers Station on the left. It’s not really a great enough view to feel being on a holiday but it’s interesting to see the fast cars and people on it going on with their lives and here I am looking out at a window feeling as if time have stopped – I didn’t have to wade through the fast lanes, no hurrying up to get home and no sweaty palms holding the steering wheel, no thousand and one thoughts running through my mind. Good enough for me.
And I can’t really complain since we’re staying here for two nights, for free. I won this hotel voucher via a radio quiz contest a couple of months back. Now we’re ready to go to the pool…the last time we’ve been into one was exactly 12 months ago!
