about last night

About a month ago, our 3.5 year old daughter decided to pack up and sleep outside our common room. We had been co-sleeping for 36 months and for the past six months, she is sleeping in a separate bed just beside our main bed.

Since last month, she had been sleeping with her grandmother almost every night. No doubt Pristine naturally developed a liking to my mother who came almost two months ago to live with us. My daughter is spending time with her grandma more than she spends time with me. I plead guilty, I’m a working mom.

Last night, she woke up in the middle of the night and climbed down grandma’s bed.

Grandma: Obviously surprised at the sudden night action. “Where are you going, Pristine? It’s bed time.”

Pristine: “to mama and papa’s room…”

Grandma: “Why?”

Pristine: Her exact words -“Because mama say I love you and kiss …”

I’m a mother and if you are one, you will know that, that simple phrase is enough to move you to tears.

Note: I was still awake that time, thinking about this whole moving to the other room matter. My constant thinking of her must have sent some telekinetic signals…

When was the last time your child/children moved you?

speaking from the “grammy” perspective?
I’d say your mother is very proud of the mother you have become.

Very sweet moment – thanks for sharing it. Our son still co-sleeps with us on occasion (he’s five). We used to catch a lot of flack for it from family, but now he can sleep on his own or with us. When he chooses to join us, it’s usually just for a few hours in the early morning: some snuggle time. Particularly with me working out of the house, too, it nice to share that time with him (well, most of the time ;-) .

Thanks for visiting! I can never have enough of the snuggle!!
