taking the staircase challenge

20078Oct

by Grace

I live on the 7th floor in a 12 floor building. How do I go up and down the building? Of course through the reliable elevator, nothing else. I know the stairs are there but aren’t stairs supposed to be for emergency use only? ;-P

Truth is, I have made a pact with myself to use the stairs at least 4 times a week. Total number of steps from the ground floor until the 7th floor where our apartment would be 140. Boy, it really is tiring, not to mention a real pain to huff and puff in that closed, damp area without windows.

I could need the exercise because looking closely, I realized I don’t do that often. Well, I do belly dancing almost everyday……. ok that’s long enough, you can stop laughing now! It’s a great way to exercise and have fun at the same time without even leaving home or enrolling in a gym program which makes it more appealing to me.

I also realized that people who are a little ‘off’ their ideal weight are almost always people who are tired from work. Umkay, I know this sounds like a real cheesy excuse but at least in my case, it is the reason why I tend to postpone moving about and sweating. Sometimes I just don’t want to add anything to the normal daily fatigue.

But someone told me before, people get tired because they don’t exercise and not the other way around – which was my original theory that I am tired that’s why I don’t want to exercise.

‘Nuff said, today when I go home I’ll tackle the stairs again!

I love belly dancing. I was just starting to learn from video tapes. I can not do stairs because of bone on bone in my knee. Maybe I will pop in a tape this week. Here in America the folks act like it is volar to belly dance I think it is beautiful and fiminin

Steps are a brilliant way to exercise. Just do it and you will never want to use an elevator again

Perfect exercise! Mine is walking (or jogging to keep with the tot who runs like an atlete!) every morning. And some other manual labor I do at home
