the power of leap year

You mean you haven’t heard? For so long now, the old wives tale that many women will get pregnant on a leap year stuck to my mind. I got three emails from friends who announced that they are with child and one friend announced through her blog that she is finally pregnant with her first child after more than a year of trying! Congratulations, L & P!

A simple Google search and I got this:

The Hebrew calendar shows that 2008 is a leap year. A leap year is referred to in Hebrew as Shanah Me’uberet, or a pregnant year.

Not convinced yet? If you observe closely, there are so many Hollywood celebrities who are pregnant this year. Angelina Jolie, Nicole Kidman, among others. Maybe there will be more who will show baby bumps, if the leap year power is true. I just hope Britney Spears isn’t among them!

So, any pregnant woman around you?

Here in Dubai, lately there are lots of pregnant ladies in the park when I jog/hike at night.

Our insurance agent said we are in the middle of a huge baby boom. It seems like everyone is either pregnant or just gave birth. Amazing to me!

Hey I just gave you an award! :)

Does that leap year affect any baby that will be born in it’s year? Because I have like 7 friends that have either recently had a baby or are due by May which would mean they got pregnant last year. However I do also know of 2 babies due in September/October already this year so maybe it’s true!
Seriously, I’m with Claudia. It’s a ridiculous baby boom! And I went to a new maternity/baby store open house on Saturday and we all were like, holy cow, there’s a lot of pregnant women in our area!

Well, I’m hoping and praying it will hold true for my sis-in-law. They’ve been trying for two years now to have a baby.

By the way, I tagged you for a meme.

you could be one of them. It’s still March, after all :D

If I’d be one of the leaping ladies, it would be on my will and not the power of the leap year! :-)
