Taqado, Taqado, Taqado, Taqado Mexican Kitchen…food bloggers in Dubai had been raving about this new Mexican restaurant on the block. Uhm, restaurant owners? You better believe the power of blogger and social media because it’s what got me looking into Taqado.
The husband and I raided their newly opened outlet at DIFC, Gate 5, beside Noodle House. It’s very easy to locate by the way, if you can find where is Gate #5 at DIFC, it’s in the same road as The Ritz Carlton.
I liked the ambiance: casual, laid back with wooden long tables and plank-type chairs, clean and uncluttered surroundings with fresh veggies on display. This is Taqado, declaring itself proud to offer food that is fresher than fresh.
Ordering is pretty simple that goes like this: You choose either a burrito, fajita, crispy tacos, burrito box, choose a filling, toppings and side order. (Here’s the Taqado menu)
I had a large burrito (don’t judge) with red Spanish rice, salsa, barbacoa meat, sour cream AND guacamole.
REMEMBER! The guacamole makes all the difference from regular burrito to BURRITOH-OH-OH-OH so you better put it in, regardless of the extra 4 dhs. You can thank me later. 🙂
The husband had crispy tacos – 3 tacos with different fillings.
Mexican chili sauces – proceed with caution! We particularly liked the green one!
The tacos were downed with Mexican cola and something called sparkling coffee.
If you love coffee and ready for an adventure, try sparkling coffee. I can’t quite put words in it as I am not a coffee drinker but the husband is and he liked it.
I get to choose a drink from an array of Mexican soda (made less evil because they used natural cane sugar). I chose Lime!
After a hearty Mexican lunch, erm, actually, while still in the middle of it, we kept on saying we will definitely be back. We even already decided what to order next time – even before we finish our current one!
Lastly, dessert. Churros. Hot, crunchy, chewy, melt in your mouth churros. Oh. My. Heart.
This sweet little darling is filled with dulce de leche (sweetened milk) which made it all the more delightful. I can’t believe the last time I had churros was in Tokyo Disneyland years and years ago. I totally forgot about these.
So, if you are eager to try out Mexican food in Dubai, you won’t regret a visit to Taqado. Don’t like burritos or tacos? (Who doesn’t like burritos anyway?)
Then go there even just for the Churros!
