And so Jordan has to wait

What would you do to me if I told you that I had the chance to visit one of the New Seven Wonders of the World that is Petra, for less than US$100 but didn’t go? I thought so. Stupid, right. A low cost airline further slashed their airfares to neighboring cities from Dubai including, Amman (Jordan), Alexandria (Egypt), Damascus & Aleppo (Syria), Kathmandu (Nepal), Doha (Qatar), Beirut (Lebanon), Baku (Azerbaijan) and Bahrain. Roundtrip flights to Amman, Jordan on February-March 2010 were at 335 dhs* (US$90)! Of course I had to be excited!

So I printed out the fare chart and went home smiling.

Me: “Hey, there’s a flight to Jordan for only 335 dhs!”

Husband: “So?”

Me: “So? What so, silly. We should go!”

* silence *

Hah. Everyone knows that silence in my house means NO. What a pity.

Me: “Okay, I’ll go.”

Pristine butts in.

Pristine: “Where will you go, mom?”

Me: “Let’s go to Jordan, sweetie!”

Pristine: “We means? Only you and me?”

Me: “Yes, it would be fun!”

Pristine: “But what about papa?”

Pfffftttt.

So the problem is, the husband do not know the value or meaning of travel except that it would entail expenses and possibly, absence from his work. Pristine would be sad if  the three of us could not go altogether (maybe when she’s a little bit older she can understand we can’t do ALL things together). And me for the love of God, I could do away husband-less on my travels BUT don’t want to travel without my daughter (maybe I can when I grow up).

* The promotional fare is via Fly Dubai but reservation & purchase of the discounted tickets must be made before December 15, 2009 to travel between January 7, 2010 to March 27, 2010.

Aw, Grace. I kind of understand why your reluctant to go, but you shouldn’t let things like that stop you if you REALLY want to go-I know Pristine would be sad, but maybe once you guys get there she will be happier?

I guess since I don’t have a husband and daughter to consider, I don’t understand the feelings. Hopefully you’ll be able to go to Petra one day soon :)

One day, I will drag Pristine with me and do fun things on our destination so she won’t have to sulk why her daddy didn’t go! That kid is just so full of “family-being-one-together-always” thought!

What a shame not to go to Petra, it’s such a stupendous place. You really need to get there one day Grace.

I’m sorry your husband is such a travel party pooper. Does he not ever want to travel unless it’s home? I guess I just don’t understand men and their devotion to work sometimes!
I hope you get to go someday, I’ve heard it’s amazing! :)

Go for it even if your hubby is not going!

Yeah I will! Definitely when I can do away with all the mushy stuff about leaving Pristine alone with my mom, etc, etc. I’m so dramatic when it comes to being away from Pristine!

Maybe you could sell it as a scouting mission for a potential Japanese tour group. He could take his clients there! All together with you and P. You should go!!!

Oh, I forgot to tell you that he will be quitting his job at the end of this month! It’s been so hectic for him that he doesn’t have time for his family and even for himself! There are days when he only has 2 hours of sleep! And no time to eat…and you know that isn’t good given his already waify physique!! LOL

He will start working for another company next month, though. I really hope to go to Jordan someday!

That’s a really good deal! Shame I wasn’t so observant!

Sorry to hear that Mr isn’t so keen to go – it would be a wonderful experience for the entire family.

Also, you are right: sometimes you need to do things on your own… but then when you do, you spend the entire trip saying: If only Pristine could see this, or M would love this!

I’ll keep an eye out for future deals: Jordan is up there on my list of must-sees!

So sorry you didn’t get to go… I am really lucky that I married a man who loves to travel as much as I do, and we have a doggie that loves to travel with us. He has his own travel bag and usually falls asleep in it, and the people on the plane don’t even know he is in there.
I hope you get to go to Jordan soon, especiall with Pristine, I am sure she would have a fabulous time with her mommy!
